Learn how to deal with this pesky (and sometimes painful) hair removal problem.

“Ingrown hairs happen because the follicle of the hair is trapped under the skin and can’t sprout out, ” says Natalie Gee, co-founder of Gee Beauty Spa in Toronto. Here are Gee’s top tips and some products to help this tedious problem.

COPING

Ingrown hairs can be painful and become very irritated, especially if you try to poke or pick at them. The best solution for calming them is to apply a serum with salicylic acid to the area to help resurface and exfoliate the skin.
