Spring signifies rebirth, motivating us to take better care of ourselves so we can look and feel our best for the summer. Here are two of our favourite body slimming regimens—one in-office and the other at-home—to help you covet that must-have summer body.

1. Velashape III Body Contouring: When it comes to cellulite, there really is no  quick fix as it’s caused by a variety of factors, including hormones, ethnicity, diet and lifestyle habits, such as smoking. VelaShape III is a non-invasive body contouring technology that holds more power than the previous iterations of VelaShape, allowing you to shorten the amount of treatments needed for issues such as cellulite and  circumference reduction in the abdomen and thigh area. The device works to heat the area to 40oC or higher (between  43 and 45o is ideal if the patient can tolerate it) and maintains the temperature for between 18 and 20 minutes. The VelaShape III combines this infrared system with the stacked pulse treatment of the  bipolar RF closed loop system and helps prevent burns with a vacuum that sucks up the tissue, to deliver results at both the deeper tissues and superficial dermal levels. Results can be seen with  just one long treatment that lasts 30 minutes or three shorter treatments of a 15-minute duration, each spaced two weeks apart, and there is no downtime. One can return back to their daily routine right after treatment.  However: as with all RF devices, there is maintenance involved. One may need touch-ups  every six months or once a year.

COST: $150 to $250 per treatment depending on the area that is being worked on.

2. Caudalie Slimming Regimen Combine the aforementioned in-office treatment with this at-home three-step slimming regimen for smooth skin. Begin with the Caudalie Crushed Cabernet Scrub ($38, caudalie.com) twice a week in the shower in order to prepare the skin for the slimming treatment. Then, after your shower each morning, apply the Caudalie Contouring Concentrate ($37, caudalie.com) to  still damp skin  to decongest areas of the body prone to cellulite, such as the thighs, abdomen and buttocks, and diminish “orange-peel skin” by beginning the drainage process in the dermis. Finish with the Caudalie  Draining Organic Herbal Teas ($14, caudalie.com), infused with  red vine, blackcurrant, blueberry, sweet orange peel and cinnamon, to help emininate water and toxins from the body. Simply steep a bag in boiling water for five minutes and enjoy!

SIDE EFFECTS: Skin may bruise if you are on blood-thinning drugs, so let your technician know if this is the case. As well, tattoo ink may change colour.
