All Hail Hemp!

The new superfood takes the world by storm.

Hemp, the new “it” food, holds endless health benefits and doesn’t discriminate either—even those with intolerances to nuts, gluten, lactose and sugar can enjoy hemp. Hemp is a complete protein seed that is grown from the cannabis plant (don’t worry, THC levels are super-low). Hemp seeds taste like a cross between sunflower seeds and pine nuts making them easy to add to your diet. Sprinkle it on your yogurt or salad, add hemp to your smoothie or make baked goods with hemp flour.

Here are the top five health benefits of consuming hemp.

1. Increased energy and Improved Digestion:

Hemp supplies your body with the energy it needs, which, in turn increases your metabolism. How? Your metabolism controls your digestive system; when it runs efficiently, food is digested more quickly, thus improving digestion.

2. Natural Weight Loss:

Hemp, rich in omega-6 fatty acids, helps us burn calories that we’ve consumed throughout the day. By supplying our body with the right nutrients (as hemp does), we stay fuller longer, avoid unnecessary snacking throughout the day and flaunt a skinnier waistline in the long run.

3. Reduced inflammation

GLA, the omega-6 fatty acid found in hemp, holds anti-inflammatory properties, so hemp is useful for those with arthritis, cardiovascular disease, psoriasis and even diabetes.

4. Improved Immunity

Hemp seeds provide nutrients that help us build natural antibodies and avoid sickness. Stock up on hemp for when flu season sneaks up on you.

5. Improved Heart Health

The Omega-6 fatty acids found in hemp reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease, lowers blood pressure, cholesterol levels and blood sugar.
