artefillDescription: An anti-aging injectable containing unique microspheres that help the body produce more collagen. They are not reabsorbed by the body and therefore offer longer lasting results.

How it’s done:  First a skin test will be done to make sure you’re not allergic to collagen. Then Artefil is injected under the skin during a 15-30 minute treatment. It is formulated with lidocaine, a local anesthetic, so injections are virtually painless. Most patients achieve their desired results with only one or two treatments, but a follow-up is required so your doctor can determine whether you need more. The results last up to a year.

Complications: Mild swelling, redness, and/or bruising at the injection site can occur. Less common complications are rash and itching 48 hours after treatment, and lumps and granulomas.

Recovery: None.

Cost: $200-$800 for a vial or half vial depending on the provider and the procedure.
