orthoticsDescription: Orthotics are custom-made insoles that are designed to improve the mechanics of the feet, and are used to treat a variety of foot problems.

How it’s done: Your podiatrist will do a biomechanical exam – they will observe your gait and check for any inconsistencies in how you walk and they way you position your feet. Sometimes they will do x-rays as well. Then they will take a mold of your feet, and use it to make the orthotics. They will also discuss proper footwear with you, and will book follow up appointments to make sure the orthotics fit properly and are not worn out.

Complications: None.

Recovery: None.

Cost: $450 to $650 a pair.
