vein therapy Description: Laser or sclerotherapy can eliminate those thin red veins on your legs or face. Treatment can often eliminate symptoms relating to spider veins, such as night cramps, swelling and bruising.

How it's done: Large- and medium-sized veins are injected with a sclerosing solution that makes them collapse and disappear. Laser can treat smaller veins. Sometimes both procedures will be used to correct your problem, and you may need several treatments. Large veins are treated through surgery by a general surgeon; small veins are treated by injection.

Complications: Possibility of change in skin lightening or darkening around vein or an increase in smaller veins forming.

Recovery: There can be swelling and pain. You may have to wear support stocking or a tensor bandage

Cost: $150 and up/treatment.
