13 07 eyelash longer extensionsDescription: Lash extensions are a semi-permanent way to make your lashes longer.

How it’s done: Fake lashes are applied to your real lashes (never to the skin or baby lashes) one by one with a medical grade adhesive. It takes about an hour and a half, and you must keep your eyes closed during the application. Once it’s done, you have to wait two days before you get your lashes wet so that the glue will set properly. After two days, the lashes are completely waterproof. They last six to eight weeks as long as they’re properly cared for, but touchups may be required in between because lashes shed every 90 days. They are safe for contact lens wearers, though you should not wear your contacts during application. There are many different kinds, mink being the lightest and most natural looking.

Complications: Lash extensions damage your natural lashes if an experienced professional does not apply them. Irritation, and eye injury, can occur (usually if they are not applied properly).

Recovery: One to two days, mostly to make sure you don’t get them wet.

Cost: $110 to $255, depending on how many eyelashes you have and how many extensions you want.
