13 07 zoom teeth whiteningDescription: A tooth whitening treatment meant to remove intrinsic stains on teeth (meaning the stain is part of the internal structure of the tooth).

How it's done: This 90-minute treatment only needs to be done once or twice for best results. Whitening gel is applied to the teeth and a high intensity light helps activate the gel. Then, a relief gel is applied to the teeth for ten minutes to reduce any tooth sensitivity. This procedure is not a permanent fix and at-home maintenance with dental tray or other whitening product is required. Patients can expect to see teeth that are five to six shades brighter.

Complications: Whitening patients often notice sensitivity, but only for a day or two.

Recovery: It is recommended patients follow a special diet of only white foods, and avoid coffee, wine and other teeth staining foods to prevent re-staining for 48 hours.

Cost: $500 to $1,000.
