Cohesive silicone breast implants, also known as "Gummy Bear" implants, have already been in Canada for several years.

While not as popular as their silicone or saline counterparts, they offer women the best of both worlds: a natural look and feel with little chance of rupture or leakage. Cohesive silicone implants are more solid than regular silicone implants, making them less likely to ripple, change shape over time, or cause capsular contracture (an immune response to foreign objects in the body). The latest line of cohesive silicone implants, introduced last December by Allergan, come in a round shape, rather than a teardrop, and have a smooth, rather than rough, surface for natural movement and mobility. Ask your doctor about them now if you're considering breast augmentation or reconstructive surgery.
