Is the skin on your body bumpier than you’d like? Chances are it’s keratosis pilaris, also known as chicken skin. Usually inherited and common in those with dry skin, these rough tan or red bumps occur around the hair follicles on the upper arms, thighs, cheeks and buttocks giving the appearance of constant goosebumps. Chicken skin is stressful—believe me, I know because I’ve dealt with chicken skin on my arms since I was a kid. Although it can clear up in some cases without any treatment, the rest of us need to constantly maintain the area to keep it smooth. We recently tried Biophora Conditioning Body Duo ($150, medical spas and doctors offices) and can’t get enough of it!

The first step of the system, a Conditioning Body Serum, is a leave-on exfoliant for night use that is chock full of skin-smoothing ingredients: Salicylic acid removes impurities, lactic acid sloughs away dead skin for brighter and smoother skin, and niacinamide hydrates the area by preventing the loss of moisture and upping fatty acids and ceramides in the outer layer of your skin, known as the stratum corneum.

The second step (also used at night), Conditioning Body Cream, contains glycolic acid to leave skin softer and radiant-looking alongside soothing essential oils that penetrate the area with moisture. When used together, the skin on the body becomes smoother in texture, thicker-looking from increased circulation and water retention and brighter from consistent exfoliation.

Elevate's Expert Tip: Ease your body into the duo by using it three times a week at first. Increase your frequency as skin tolerance develops. Pair with an exfoliating scrub in the shower for best results!
