Choosing our favourite Academy Awards red carpet looks was hard, but we did it! See our top Oscars red carpet picks.

OK, we need to start with one indisputable statement: The Oscars red carpet was filled with a whole lot of stunners last night.

But why should we be surprised? The stars seem to covet all the best beauty secrets, with Viola Davis shining as the definition of ageless beauty and Priyanka Chopra glowing with a neutral eye and just a touch of well-placed highlighter. What was Leslie Mann’s flawless foundation secret? A few drops of Lancôme’s Teint Idole Ultra Wear 24H Foundation mixed with face serum and applied with a soft brush (set the foundation brush aside for a natural finish.)

As for dresses, skin was in again, with high slits and plunging necklines, but we also saw more body-hugging gowns with higher necklines, showcasing some gorgeous curves in place of skin. Hailee Steinfeld’s sheer floral Ralph & Russo gown showed off her fabulous legs, no slit required, while Karlie Kloss made jaws drop in her white Stella McCartney asymmetrical caped gown.

Finally, some stars let their gowns do the talking in support of some good causes. Emma Roberts went green with a 2005 Giorgio Armani gown pulled from the archives. Pairing it with sleek old Hollywood waves and a Charlotte Tilbury lip brought her vintage glam look together. Meanwhile, the sparkle on Olivia Culpo’s gown was created using pieces from chalices Stella Artois is selling to raise money for clean water initiatives.

In the end, while it may have been difficult to whittle down the competition, we’ve (remarkably) decided on our top Oscars red carpet looks for 2017.

Halle Berry for Best Skin

Halle Berry on the Oscars red carpet 2017

Halle Berry’s big hair with perfectly defined curls won my heart the minute I saw it. But once I got past that I couldn’t get over how great her skin looks. Berry, 50, is a mother of two, but she sure knows how to take care of herself from head to toe. Can you say #bestbody and #complexiongoals? –AD

Ruth Negga for the Perfect Pout

Ruth Negga on the Oscars red carpet 2017

Ruth Negga, 35, mixed her reds on the Oscars red carpet, matching her lippie to her ruby jewels, rather than overdoing the red in her custom-made Valentino gown. She matched her lips with a full makeup look, accentuating her big, gorgeous eyes with dark liner and opening them up with black mascara on the top lashes and burgundy mascara on her lower lashes. Dying to know Ruth Negga’s Oscars lip colour? It’s Chanel Rouge Allure Ink Matte Liquid Lip Color in Expérimenté. #you’rewelcome –ET

Taraji P. Henson for Best Curves

Taraji P. Henson on the Oscars red carpet 2017

When it comes to women who define confidence on the red carpet, Taraji P. Henson never disappoints. At 46, Henson smoked the red carpet with her old Hollywood glam look that featured a classic Alberta Feretto navy off-the-shoulder gown, a diamond necklace and last but not least, some voluptuous curves. Standing ovation, please. –AD

Nicole Kidman for Ageless Beauty

Nicole Kidman on the Oscars red carpet 2017

Known for her porcelain complexion, I find it hard to believe Nicole Kidman, with her flawless skin, is 49. The actress stepped onto the Oscars red carpet in a beaded, backless nude Armani Privé number. Her low, loose chignon and well-placed highlights added dimension to her hair and softened her facial features, drawing attention to Kidman’s deep-red pout. Seriously, I have a major crush on this ageless beauty. –ET

Amanpreet’s Top Pick: Jessica Biel

Jessica Biel on the Oscars red carpet 2017

Jessica Biel’s ethereal red carpet look was my ultimate favourite. She was a complete knockout with her body-hugging golden gown combined with her show-stopping Tiffany & Co. choker. Biel balanced out her glam goddess outfit with a sleek middle-parted updo, pearlescent complexion and winged liner. Over the top fashion always looks best with a simplistic and chic beauty look and Biel at 34 showed us how it’s done.

Erin’s Top Pick: Chrissy Teigen

Chrissy Tiegen on the Oscars red carpet 2017

Chrissy Teigen took to the red carpet showcasing all of the night’s trends in a body-hugging white beaded Zuhair Murad gown featuring a high slit to show off the model’s gorgeous legs and plunging backline. With neutral makeup, a muted burgundy lip and low, loose chignon (again #allthetrends), the 31-year-old mother of one stole our hearts—even if she did seemingly end up needing a nap during the ceremony (#motherhood).
