In anticipation of Sunday's Golden Globes 2017 Red Carpet affair, we're recapping our favourite looks from last year's glamourous evening.

Last year, the Golden Globes red carpet brought looks that didn’t disappoint! Hair and makeup was, for the most part, understated, with lots of sleek up-dos, ever-trendy lobs worn in simple waves and natural makeup looks that made healthy skin the ultimate show piece of the evening. Celebs paired those classic and understated beauty styles with statement fashions, showing off that killer body with pride! From midriffs, to plunging necklines, sideboob action and hourglass-fitting gowns—skin was in! (For the record, confidence is always in.)

Apart from trends, though, here were some of our personal favourite looks of the evening.

(Psst! Be sure to tune into our Twitter and Instagram accounts during the red carpet for live coverage of the event and check back on Monday for our red carpet highlights from the 2017 Golden Globe awards!)

Cate Blanchett in Givenchy

Although I would never personally wear the rose quartz Givenchy gown donned by Blanchett on the runway (let’s get real, only the regal Blanchett can wear something so intricate and peculiar in such an elegant manner!), the dress was simply beautiful with its drapy effect and stunning deep back. Combined with her drop earrings, half-pinned-up bob and becoming rose lip, Blanchett nailed it all the way.—AD

Jennifer Lopez in Giambattista Valli Haute Couture

Everything about Jennifer Lopez is stunning in this canary yellow form fitting but modest dress-cape number! I love how the skirt of the dress hugs her hip area and emphasizes her tiny waist, while the high slit shows off her gorgeous gams and Jimmy Choo shoes. Apart from her smoking body, Lopez’s beauty look also won my heart. The wine coloured lip, bronze skin and wavy lob perfectly complement her show stopping fashion choice. And lets not forget she’s 46, but looks amazing!—AD

Amy Adams in Atelier Versace

Sometimes it’s risky wearing orange with naturally red hair, but Amy Adams absolutely rocked the red carpet in a burnt-orange Atelier Versace sequined gown. Keeping her makeup neutral allowed for her glowing skin to steal the spotlight, and the orange gown made her blue eyes pop. Her loose, flowy tresses keep this look soft and elegant. Also, did you see her toned arms?!—NL

Sophia Bush in Narciso Rodriguez

Channeling Old Hollywood, Sophia Bush looked absolutely stunning in a floor-length black Narciso Rodriguez gown with a plunging neckline, highlighted with a stunning diamond necklace. The star had just enough sparkle to look elegant without looking too showy, and her bold red lip sealed the deal. My favourite part? Her brows were absolutely on point, and framed her face beautifully.—NL
